How Do You Use a Salt Pool System?
Here's a quick explanation of how to use a salt water system. If you've purchased your first salt water system, or moved into a new home with a salt water system, here's how it works:
Structure of a Salt Water System:
Every salt water system(salt chlorine generator) consists of an electrolytic cell and a control module. The electrolytic cell is where chlorine is produced. Upon closer inspection, you'll find the electrolytic cell is made of titanium plates, which are powered by the control module. It's quite simple.

Every pool is different, so you'll need to set the system according to your pool's specific needs.
Adjust the knob on the control panel to control the chlorine output. Turning the knob up increases the output, and turning it down decreases the output. The output is the amount of chlorine you're telling the device to produce. When you first use a salt water system, here's a good general procedure:
First, take note of your current chlorine level. Let the salt water system run for two to three days at the current setting. Second, measure the chlorine level in the water. The goal is a free chlorine level of one to three parts per million. If the chlorine level is too low, increase the output on the control module; conversely, decrease the output if it's too high. Third, repeat this process a few times. Usually, it takes about a week to fine-tune it to the optimal setting for your pool.
Every pool is different, so your output level may be different from your neighbor's, but that's perfectly fine. Many factors can influence this, but this is the basic operation. Once your system is initially set up, most people only need to make minor adjustments to their salt water system.
A quick tip: There are a few times when you might need to make these adjustments, such as: seasonal temperature changes, especially when temperatures rise or fall; changes in bather load (e.g., a pool party); and after heavy rainstorms, as water temperature changes.

If you want to check the system, most salt chlorinators have indicator lights. Pay attention to whether these lights are on, as they often provide important information, such as whether the pool's salinity is too low, whether the electrolytic cell needs cleaning, etc. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us or leave a message on our website at www.hotook.com.
